Hostess Brands says it’s going out of business, closing plants that make Twinkies and Wonder Bread. The company will lay off all of its 18,500 workers. Hostess is based out of Irving, Texas and says a nationwide worker strike hindered its ability to make and deliver products. The company told workers it would file a motion in U.S. Bankruptcy Court if plant operations didn’t return to normal levels by yesterday evening. Hostess Brands filed for Chapter 11 protection in January for the second time in less than a decade.
