Former Richmond Police Officer, 37-year-old James Rogers has been sentenced to nine years in federal prison followed with a lifetime of supervised release. Rogers also must register as a lifetime sex offender. Rogers plead guilty yesterday in US District Court to one count of receiving child pornography. Charges were filed after an investigation by the state attorney general’s Cybercrimes Unit last November. Investigators say they found more than 26,000 child pornographic images on computers taken from Rogers’ house. Rogers was dismissed from the Richmond Police Department in June of 2010 after he was acquitted of witness tampering charges involving a group-sex encounter with Rogers, two other Richmond Police officers and a Richmond woman.
