Fiscal Court says Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Owes Almost $300,000

The Jackson County Fiscal Court says Sheriff Denny Peyman’s office owes them more than $278,000 in payroll assistance dating from when he took office at the start of 2011 until this past August. Judge Executive William Smith is wanting the state auditor to investigate Peyman’s office. The fiscal court has already formed a new Jackson County Police Department, which employees 3 of Peyman’s 4 deputies and say calls to Jackson County’s dispatch will go to that department.
