Breathitt County Standoff Update:
The standoff situation in the Jackson community of Breathitt County has ended peacefully this afternoon. The man inside the home told police he was asleep and that’s why he didn’t answer the door. Police are questioning him now and aren’t sure if charges will be filed. Witness say they heard gun shots in the overnight hours but police haven’t confirmed that.

Tactial Team Called in to Breathitt County Standoff
Kentucky State Police have sent a tactical team in to execute a search warrant at the scene of a standoff . The Jackson Fire Department says crews responded to a fight between 2 men on Broadway Spur in Jackson. Then they responded to shots fired around 4 this morning. Crews aren’t sure if both men are inside the residence, they have tried to make contact in multiple ways but haven’t been successful. A judge signed a search warrant which will allow the tactical team to go in. Jackson City Independent School is on lock down.
Standoff Continues in Jackson
A standoff continues this morning in the Jackson community of Breathitt County. Officials say it all started with shots fired around 2:20 this morning. They think a man barricaded himself inside a home on Bay Street. State police now have a search warrant and are waiting on a team to go in the house. All area schools are on lockdown.
